Directions: The class will be divided

into five (5) groups. Each group need
to find the indicated term or nth term
assigned to them. If the given
sequence is not in a general rule form,
each group will make a general rule
that will satisfy the sequence.
G2
1. 3, 6, 9, 12 t20

2. tn = 2n2 t13

3. tn = n2 – 3 t35

1. Were you able to find the needed term in
each activity? How did you obtain it?

2. Do you think it is possible to find any term

in an arithmetic sequence?

3. After doing the activities, what conclusion

can you give to determine the rule in finding
the general term or the nth term of the given
sequence?
To find the general formula for the nth
term of an arithmetic sequence without
knowing the first term or the common
difference.

The steps are:

1. Find the common difference d.
2. Write the specific formula for the given sequence
3. Then find the term you're looking for.
To find the general formula of an
arithmetic sequence given two
terms, follow these steps:
1. Find the common difference.
2. Use the formula tn = t1 + (n – 1)d to set up two
equations that use the given information.
3. Set up a system of equations and solve for d.
4. You can use elimination or substitution to solve
the system.
5. Write the formula for the specific sequence.
6. Plug d into one of the equations to solve for t1.
7. Use t1 and d to find the general formula for tn.
8. Find the term you were looking for.
Assignment
Directions: Verify if the number is a member of the
sequence. Check the number if it is a member of the
sequence or encircle it if not and explain.
Great thing are not done by impulse, but
by a series of small things brought
together.
