EARTH PROCESSES

Group 1 BSRE 2-2

Geology for Engineers
Tectonic Cycle
• It is a process which renews the Earth’s surface. This commonly
results to different landforms such as volcanoes and mountain
ranges.
• This cycle exists due to Tectonic Plate movements which in nature is
constantly moving. The specific phase that primarily affects cycle is
the subduction of the plates.
• A general processes that also affects the Rock Cycle (Sedimentary
rock, Metamorphic rock and Igneous rock)
Tectonic Cycle
Hydrologic Cycle
• Also known as the Water Cycle which principally distributes and
circulates the water on different locations.
• Earth-Atmosphere process (Evaporation, Transpiration,
Condensation, Precipitation, and Runoff)

Biogeochemical Cycle

• A process wherein any of the natural pathways by which

essential elements of living matter are circulated. (Nitrogen, Carbon,
Oxygen, Hydrogen, etc.)

• The term biogeochemical is a contraction that refers to the consideration of

the biological, geological, and chemical aspects of each cycle. Simplest
example is the process of Photosynthesis.
