 Centre for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition is a
FDA organization, which regulates-
 Food(except meat, poultry)
 Dietary supplements
 Bottled water
 Cosmetic products
 The Food Safety Inspection service (FSIS) in the U.S.
Department of agriculture regulates meat and poultry
products.
 Ensure food products are safe, sanitary, wholesome and
honestly labeled.

 AOAC is a scientific association ,headquarters in
Maryland
 It was founded in 1884 as the association of
agricultural chemists and became AOAC in 1991
 It publishes standardized, chemical analysis
methods designed to increase confidence in the
results of chemical and microbiological analyses.
 The analytical method adopted by the AOAC are used
by government agencies concerned with analysis of
fertilizers, foods, feeds, pesticides, drugs, etc.
 Also used in the industries to check compliance of their
products
 AOAC focus on safety of foods, beverages, dietary
supplements, fertilizers, soil and water.
 The aim of the test method to evaluate purity of material
used in the production of food stuffs and their
ingredients.
