CLAUDE SHANNON and WARREN WEAVER;
• Aristotelian view of communication
• Stresses the idea that the process of communication
involves several components.
• They theorized that communication is a process where
the Speaker/Sender would send a Message to the
Listener/Receiver.
• Box and Arrow Model
• Transmission Model became the other name of this very
first communication model.
INTERACTIVE MODEL OF COMMUNICATION
• Resulted from the studies of PAUL WATZ LAWICH,
JANET BEAVIN, and DON JACKSON in 1967.
• Focuses on the origin or source of the message and
the reaction or feedback of the receiver to the
message.
• Parties recurrent act of exchanging messages:

• The arrow going down represents the ideas from
the speaker; those going up from the listener.

of social and cultural elements like
customs, traditions, beliefs, attitudes,
clothing styles, or thinking patterns on a

COMMUNICATION
• Similar with Interactive Model
• Core communication components:
Speaker-Listener-Message-Situation-Channel-
Feedback-Interference
• Emphasis on the messages or reactions of the
participants coming almost simultaneously
during their exchange of ideas.
•Reciprocal Relationship
•Communication process
happens in a cyclical or spiral
manner where every message
or reaction elicits another
message, reaction or feedback.
