    Repetitive strain injury (RSI) is an umbrella term for muscular or skeletal disorders caused by overuse or repetitive strains. Common RSIs for artists include bursitis from sprains or irritation due to overuse, carpal tunnel syndrome from median nerve irritation in the wrist, and Dupuytren's contracture which causes the fingers to bend towards the palm of the hand. Other RSIs artists face include tendon inflammation in the elbow or rotator cuff disorders from inability to lift or twist the arms.
