FACTS ABOUT PAKISTAN
 Pakistan,officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,
is a country in south Asia. It is the world’s sixth most
populous country with a population exceeding
212,742,631 people . In area, it is the 33rd largest
country, spanning 881,913
 Capital: Islamabad
 Official Languages: Urdu, English, Hindustani
 Khewra salt mine, the second largest salt mine in
Pakistan
 One of the best trained air force pilots in Pakistan
 Pakistan’s national anthem tune ranks first in the
top three tunes of the world
Festival and
observances
Ramadan, the holiest month of the Islamic calendar,
is a month of fasting from dawn to sunset. It is widely
observed by Pakistan’s Muslim majority. Muslims
during this month will fast , attend mosques with
increased frequency, and offer Namaz-traveeh every
day with Isha prayer and recite Qur’an. Special foods
are cooked in greater quantities, parties are held, and
special accommodation is made by workplaces and
educational institutes.
Basic Economy
Pakistan is a poor country and its economic
outlook is bleak. It relies heavily on foreign
loans and grants, and dept obligations take
nearly 50 percent of the average per capita
income per person in Pakistan is estimated
at $460 {U.S} . A large number of
Pakistanis, estimated at 35 percent, live
below the poverty line.
Commercial Activities

the sale of handi craft items
such as the carpets for which
Pakistan is well known
Major Industries
Major industries of Pakistan include
textiles, cement, fertilizer, steel, sugar,
electric goods, and shipbuilding
Trade
Pakistan’s major exports include cotton,
textile goods, rice, leather items, carpets,
sports goods, fruit, and handicrafts. Major
imports include industrial equipment,
vehicles, iron ore, petroleum, and edible
oil. Trade partners include the United
States, Hong kong, Japan, Germany, the
United Kingdom, and the United Arab
Emirates .
Division of Labor

Forty-eight percent of workers are in the


service sector, 27 percent are in industry,
and 25 percent are in agriculture .
