REPORT

INTRODUCTION
On – the- job- training (ojt) is the job training that
occurs in the work place as part of the curriculum
that aims in training and orienting students about
the work and their future careers . Accounting is the
systematic and comprehensive recording of
financial transactions pertaining to a business , and
it also refers to the process of summarizing ,
analyzing and reporting these transactions to
oversight agencies and tax collection entity.
Accounting is one of the key functions for almost
any business ,it may be handled by a bookkeeper
and accountant at small firm or by sizable finance
departments with dozens of employees at large
companies.
SCOPE OF STUDY
On – The- Job – Training aims to provide the
practical aspects of how the activities of a firm is
being controlled and managed in order to achieve
its objective which is based on the theoretical
knowledge acquired from the books .It also aims
at familiarizing the trainees with the various
activities and functions of a firm. The support
and guidance received from a firm shapes an
individual into a professional.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
 Provide support to the telecommunication industry.
 Produce quality goods meeting both international
and national standards.
 Meet community and social obligation.
 Satisfying personal objectives of members of the
organization.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVES
 Achieve economic operations in meeting the primary
objectives.
 Effectiveness of operation in meeting the primary
objectives.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
 It helps the students to acquire new skills.
 It helps to build self esteem and confidence
among the students.
 It provides a practical experience of the
theoretical knowledge.
 It provides an opportunity to gain an insight into
the work culture of a firm.
LIMITATIONS
 The time available for OJT is less.
 The firm provides less focus on trainees due to
their hectic daily work which results in less work
knowledge.
 The students does not get the entire work
knowledge due to time constraints.
COMPANY PROFILE
Traco Cable Company Ltd (TRACO) was incorporated in the year
1960. This is a Government of Kerala undertaking . Registered office of
the company is situated at KSHB office complex Panampally Nagar
, Ernakulum, the Industrial Capital of Kerala. Company has two
manufacturing divisions power Cable Division & Telephone Cable
Division. Both are at Tripunithura, Ernakulum. Power cables
divisions was commissioned in 1965 has facilities for
manufacturing of PVC insulated armoured and unarmored heavy duty
cables up to 1.1 kv with copper aluminium conductors (AAC and
ACSR), PVC insulated wire and flexible and bare aluminium
conductors. All these types of cables are used for electrical
transmission and distribution systems. TRACO has received an
industrial license number CIL 346(80) dated 29-11-1980 from
Government on INDIA under Industries Development and Regulation
Act,1951 for manufacturing 5000 linear kms of jelly filled cables at
Kuttapuzha, Thiruvalla in Pathanamthitta district.
PERIOD OF STUDY

The period of internship was from 2nd april to


30th april ,2019 i.e. 20 days.

 The working of the firm is sound and prospective.

 The firm conducts its services abiding to the laws.

 The infrastructure facilities should be improved.

 Working conditions of employees should be


upgraded.
CONCLUSION
Traco Cable Company Limited with its government tag and
quality production is one of the biggest names in Electric
cable and wire industry in South India. In the past few years
it has diversified Its products and entered into markets other
than its traditional or secured ones. During the project work
it is seen that the company has changed its organisation
structure many times in the past to suit its current an future
requirements. This Resulted in the production of the best
Quality products .
To conclude, Traco’s effective organisation structure makes it
likely to make use of future opportunities like international
trade, solar power, and diversification of products to make the
company one of the best firms in the country and a
gem amongst the Kerala Government’s Public-Sector
Undertakings.
