FOUR TYPES OF SENTENCES

ACCORDING TO THEIR USES


Objectives:
a.identify the types of sentences according to their uses;
the declarative sentences, interrogative sentences,
imperative sentences, and exclamatory sentences
b.express own ideas on the types of sentences according
to their uses;
c.give examples of declarative sentences, interrogative
sentences, imperative sentences, and exclamatory
sentences
There are four types of sentences according to their
uses:
1.Declarative sentences
2.Interrogative sentences
3.Imperative sentences
4.Exclamatory sentences
DECLARATIVE SENTENCE makes a statement and
ends with a period.

Examples:
 Studying makes taking a test easier.
 Catriona Gray was crowned as Miss Universe 2019.
INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE asks a question
and ends with a question mark. Most interrogative
sentences start with the questions Who, What, Where,
When, Why, How, and Do.

Examples:
 Where did she put my ballpen?
 What is the right way to iron a shirt?
IMPERATIVE SENTENCE gives an order or makes
a request.

Examples:
 Take a step and don’t move.

 Please tell your parents to come to school.


EXCLAMATORY SENTENCE shows strong feeling
and ends with an exclamation point.

Examples:
I got the concert tickets!

Leave me alone!
Group Activity:
Perform a role playing out of the picture assigned in
your group using declarative, interrogative,
imperative, and exclamatory sentences in your script.
Do it in 2-3 minutes. You will be graded according to
the rubrics below.

according to their uses
Delivery 30%

Originality 10%
Directions: Write A if the sentence is Declarative, B for
interrogative, C for Imperative, and D for Exclamatory
sentence. Copy and answer in a half sheet of paper

___10. He doesn’t like you!
Assignment:
Search the meaning and examples of Adjective. Write
it on your notebook and read.
