Commercial catering is defined as catering
services provided just to earn profits, or in
other words in this type of catering, services
provided by outlets just to maximise profit.
Such outlets exist not only in private sector but
also in public sector.

In this category, those establishments are included
which provide food & beverage services to general
public equally for earning profit as main aim.
Restricted Market Catering
In this category, those establishments are included
which don’t provide food & beverage services to
general public but, only to specified group of people
(they may be its members, staff, etc).

 An Establishment providing Food & Beverage


services along with Accomodation facility and other
services.
 Earlier F&B services were not provided by Hotels to
their clients, but after sometime, this practice changed
& Hotels started providing every type of service to
their clients including F&B services.
 Depending upon facilities provided the category of
the hotels vary from 2 star to 5 star.
 A Restaurant is an establishment that serves the
customers with prepared food & beverages, to order,
to be consumed on the premises.
 The term covers multiplicity of venues & a diversity
of Styles of cuisine.

 Bar is a retail establishment that serves alcoholic


beverages, such as beer, wines, rum, etc. & other
beverages such as Soft drinks, mineral water & often
sell snack foods such as peanuts for consumption on
premises.
 An establishment especially for sale of beer & other
drinks and sometimes also food, to be consumed on
the premises.

 An Unsophisicated establishment for common


person. These are defined mostly by the food they
serve, generally French home-style cooking & slow
cooked foods.
• This provide facilities to large gathering people to
dance along with a music played by DJ.
• A small bar is attached to a discotheque very limited
sitting arrangement is provided.
 Some discotheque may give entry only to couple.

 An outlets/shop that sells cooked foods but dosen’t


provides place or space to consume that.
 People take the food from these outlets and eat some
other else.
Restricted Market Catering

 Transport catering Includes:

2. Airline
3. Railway
4. Sea or Cruise
In this, F&B Services are offered to them who avail the
transport services of either roadways, Airlines, Railways &
seaways.

 Clubs as a sector of the hotel and catering industry are establis


hments offering food and drink and at
times accommodation to members and bonafide guests.
 Institutions provide this type of catering services to
their students, Staff And Faculities only.
 To avail F&B Services one must be either student,
Staff or Faculity in institute.

 This type of catering services are provided by


industries to staffs and working personnels.
 For availing F&b Services one must be employee of
that company or industry.
