Lingusitic is the scientific study of

language, and involves an analysis of


language form, language meaning, and
language in context. Types of Linguistik are:
 Phonology
 Phonetic
 Morphology
 Semantic
 Syntax
 pragmatic
phonology is a branch of linguistics
concerned with the systematic
organization of sounds in languages.
Example: dogs-z, cats-z
 If a words ends in an Unvoiced
consonant sound, then it takes
an/s/sound.
Phonetic is a branch of linguistics that
comprises the study of the sounds of
human speech or in the case of sign
languages-the equivalent aspects of
sign.

the sound /t/ is aspirated
Morphology is a branch of linguistics that
studies word structures, especially in terms of
morphomes.
Example:
 Firehouse
 Doghouse
 Bathroom
Each of these words has several phonemes, or
distinct sounds. Firehouse begins with an –f
sound and ends with the –s sound. These are
morphemes as they contain inherent meaning.

Syntax is the grammar, structure, or
order of the elements in a language
statement.

Pragmatic is a branch of linguistics
concerned with the use of language in
social contexts and the ways in which
people procedure and comprehend
meanings through language.
