DEFINITION
Cholecystitis is inflammation of the gallbladder that occurs most commonly because of
an obstruction of the cystic duct by gallstones arising from the gallbladder
(cholelithiasis).
CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS
Right upper abdominal pain and tenderness,
Fever,
Nausea,
Vommiting,
Dehydration,
Tachycardic,
Leucocytosis,
Murphy's sign (+).

Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST)
Bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase assays
Amylase/lipase assays
Urinalysis
USG → Gold Standard
ERCP ????
COMPLICATIONS
Empyema and hydrops
Gangrene and perforation
Fistula formation and gallstone ileus
