Soil & Plant Testing
A soil test is important for several reasons: to optimize crop
production, to protect the environment from contamination by
runoff and leaching of excess fertilizers, to aid in the diagnosis of
plant culture problems, to improve the nutritional balance of the
growing media and to save money and conserve energy.
Increases productivity by identifying soil nutrients or soil chemical
factors that are limiting plant growth; Increases fertilizer use
efficiency by indicating appropriate rates for different soils and
crops; Protects the environment by preventing over fertilization;
Identifies polluted or contaminated soils.
Soil pH is one of the most important parameters on your soil test
report. The pH level of the soil can tell you a lot about the
potential availability of plant nutrients and about the possibilities.
Soil testing is a common practice for gardeners who want to test
their available soil for nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus,
and potassium (N-P-K). A pH test can also be performed in order
to determine whether the soil is too acidic or alkaline. Simple soil
tests can be purchased at a garden center.

Fertilizer & Compost Testing
Some organically-based fertilizers, such as PHC All-Purpose
Fertilizer, also contain small amounts of synthetic fertilizers to
ensure the availability of nutrients. For the long-term health of
your garden, feeding your plants by building the soil with organic
fertilizers and compost is best.
With the exception of nitrogen and phosphorus, most alkaline,
clay type soils usually contain enough of these elements for
vegetable production. In acid sandy soils, nitrogen, phosphorus,
potassium, calcium, magnesium and, at times, sulfur and boron
may need to be added for successful crop production.
The Organic manures are sometimes placed on the surface of
soil and incorporated into the soil with a plough or rot tiller before
planting. Fertilizer can also be applied in bands at the bottom of
plough furrows or broadcast or spread on top of ploughed soil
that is then worked into the soil with a harrow before planting of
all the major fertilizer nutrients, nitrogen is the main nutrient
affecting soil pH, and soils can become more acidic or more
alkaline depending on the type of nitrogen fertilizer used. …
Phosphoric acid is the most acidifying phosphorus fertilizer. –
Potassium fertilizers have little or no effect on soil pH.

Water Management
Sewage treatment plant (STP)
Sewage treatment plant (STP) Sewage
Treatment is the process of removing
contaminants from waste water, primarily from
household sewage. It includes physical,
chemical & biological processes to remove
these contaminants & produce environmentally
safe treated wastewater (or treated effluent).
Sewage treatment is the process of removing
contaminants from municipal wastewater,
containing mainly household sewage plus some
industrial wastewater. Physical, chemical, and
biological processes are used to remove
contaminants and produce treated wastewater
(or treated effluent) that is safe enough for
release into the environment. A by-product of
sewage treatment is a semi-solid waste or slurry,
called sewage sludge. The sludge has to
undergo further treatment before being suitable
for disposal or application to land.

Swab Testing
A pad of cotton or other absorbent material
attached to the end of a Wire or stick, used
for applying medication, removing material
and bacteriological material etc.
Parameters:
• Total plate count
• Yeast & mold
• Coliforms
• Pseudomonas aureus
• E.coli
• Salmonella
• Shigella
Take care not to contaminate the end or
shaft of the swab on anything other than
what you are swabbing. Whilst swabbing, use
a twisting technique and move the swab
across the palm covering as much of the
palm as possible, also swab in-between 1 or 2
of the fingers.

Baby soaps, Skin Cream and body lotion.
Microbiological Parameters:
•Escherichia coli
•Staphylococcus aureus
•Total microbial count
•Yeast & mold
•pH value
•Total fatty matter
•Full chemical analysis
•Acid value
Chemical Parameters:
• Total free matter
• Total free alkali
• Free caustic alkali
• Matter insoluble in ethanol
• Alkali
• Sodium chloride
• Purity of anionic surfactants
• Peroxide value
