BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Smartphone technologies offer powerful functions that can be
applied to diverse domains, it has been rapidly assimilated into daily
life including communication and education.
Since the development of the device people are enticed to used
it. It proposed numerous application that offers entertainment and
faster access to information. Because of its accessibility while
applications have been around for quite some time, it is only recently
that researchers have begun to notice their effects on student
thinking (Davis, 2016).
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
The main objective of the study is to determine how often does
student spend on their android phones, and to know what
common applications they are using that can affect on their
sleep.
This aims to:

1. determine the number of hours that student spent on their

smart phone
2. determine what mobile applications, they frequently use on
their smartphone
3. determine the effect of smartphone on their sleep.
SIGNIFICANCE AND
LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
This study aims to know the time consumed by CMU
Grade 12 STEM students on their android smartphones on
average basis and how it affects their sleep.
The research cannot include the Grade 11 and other
Grade 12 Strand of Central Mindanao University as well as
the other schools due to limited time and budget.
