    “Again,a life from sea.”


    Basic Outline-Introduction

    ● Desalination is a process that takes away mineral components from saline water. More
    generally, desalination refers to the removal of salts and minerals from a target
    substance, as in soil desalination, which is an issue for agriculture.

    ● The "simple" hurdle that must be overcome to turn seawater into fresh water is to remove
    the dissolved salt in seawater. Hence we are planning to use a filtration process where we
    will be using some natural elements for this.
    Technical Aspects

    • SPONGE: To remove fine particles like dust, fine


    sand etc.
    • COCONUT SHELL: To remove halogen, salts,
    calcium fluride , sodium chloride etc.
    • COCONUT FIBRE: This filters bulk suspended
    solids from water.

    • NEEM LEAVES: This removes toxic elements


    and also provides an antibacterial action.
    • CHARCOAL AND JUTE: Activated carbon
    reduces organic componds and chlorine and
    jute again filter fineparticles.
    Economical Aspects

    ❖ The initial cost of setting up the filter is 1000Rs. It could clean around 5L of water at a
    time and this system could be used for a week of continuous filteration. This medium can
    be cleaned at regular intervals and the used membrane can be used as a manure for
    agriculture process.
    ❖ In large scale the the cost of initial setup would be high but thereafter the maintainance
    cost would be less.

    Marketing Strategies

    ❖ As the product is customer friendly, it can be used in a very efficient manner without any
    pre-experience. A door-to-door marketing in the sea shore areas will help the residents
    there to use the nearest source of water in the fullest manner.
    ❖ If the water gets staginent, the medium mey get degraded which leads to a foul smell.
    ❖ We provide an eco-friendly method and the maintainance and cleaning can be done easily
    by the customer themselves since the medium can be produced from their household.
