PTO Main
Function

Power Takeoff (PTO) for Jet

Pumps

 A device which transfers

mechanical power from
an engine to another
piece of equipment.

 PTO connects Engine to

the PD Jet pump and
transmit drive power on a
JP Skid.

Parts Function
Pilot Bearing
Connect the PTO to Engine Flywheel

Yoke
Yoke is attach with PTO handle which helps to
move clutch plates through steel lever.

Friction Plates
Ensure no slipping present in clutch plates and
rotates as the same speed of driver.

Collar sleeve
Collar helps engage / dis-engage clutch plates
with the help of hand lever connected via yoke.

Cone Bearings
Cone bearing bear the axial & rotary load of
shaft.

Clutch plates
Clutch plates helps to engage the power from
driver.

Ring Gear
Outer ring directly attach with engine flywheel
and connects with PTO through clutch plates.

Name Plate Information

What does the PTO

Model tell us?
Power take-off (PTO): Bearings
There are 03 types of bearings present in PTO:

1. Cone Bearings.02 QTY (Brg# 440976)

2. Sealed Pilot Bearing.01 QTY (Brg# 63309 C3)

3. Collar Sleeve Bearing

Greasing
There are 04 Lubrication points which needs
our attention with 10 hours & 100 hours of
operation.
Cone Bearing & Collar sleeve requires
lubrication after every 10 hours of
operations.
Yoke handle requires lubrication after 100
hours at 2 points around the handle.

Lubrication Points
Greasing Issues
 Greasing at regular intervals of 10
hours 100 hours frequency is
recommended by OEM.

 However, Operators are unable to

meet the greasing frequency
requirement in true letter & spirit.

 This leads to deterioration in PTO

operation and ultimate failures. A
number of KMI incidents have
revealed, lack of lubrication as one
of the major cause of PTO failures
with associated production losses.
PILOT PROJECT PROPOSAL
 SKF SYSTEM 24, Electro-mechanical single point automatic lubricators, is
suitable for greasing of PTOs at regular intervals.
 It has a variable temperature independent dispense rate with a maximum
dispensing pressure of 5 bar over the whole dispensing period.
 It is used in conjunction with SFK Dial Set software for the setting of
dispensing rate.
 Traffic light LEDs are present which indicates any malfunction and
transparent case allows for grease level to be monitored.

This will lead to…

Enhanced Safety of operator by elimination of human involvement.
SKF automatic lubricators will have a positive impact on workplace safety.
Operator will no longer be involved in PTO greasing job. Greasing points are
closer to JP rotating shaft which is a hazard however protected with safety
guards. Operator time at skid will be reduced.
