• “BATIK”- a method (originally used in Java) of
producing colored designs on textiles by
dyeing them, having first applied wax to the
parts to be left undyed.

BRUNEI BATIK
Brunei’s traditional textile also called batik but it
is uniquely different from Indonesia, Malaysia
and Singapore. Its designs have their flower
simpur, sumboi-sumboi (pitcher plant), and
Brunei’s traditional design Air Muleh.

Different techniques are used in Brunei’s batik
like air brushing, crackling, bubble, rainbow, s p r i n k l e,
geometry, and marble. These techniques is
applied on the fabrics like cotton, chiffon, linen
and brocade

sometimes a
wooden stamp with
artistically
patterned bottom.
