PROJECTILE MOTION
is a form of motion experienced by an object
or particle (a projectile) that is thrown near
the Earth’s surface and moves along a
curved path under the action of gravity only
(in particular, the effects of air resistance are
assumed to be negligible).
Projectile Motion
A projectile is any object upon which the only force is
gravity,
Projectiles travel with a parabolic trajectory due to the
influence of gravity,
There are no horizontal forces acting upon projectiles
and thus no horizontal acceleration,
The horizontal velocity of a projectile is constant (a
never changing in value),
There is a vertical acceleration caused by gravity; its
value is 9.8 m/s/s, down,
The vertical velocity of a projectile changes by 9.8
m/s each second,
The horizontal motion of a projectile is independent of
its vertical motion.
For Example:
you throw the ball straight upward, or you kick a ball and
give it a speed at an angle to the horizontal or you just drop
things and make them free fall; all these are examples of
projectile motion. In projectile motion, gravity is the only force
acting on the object.
