(What to do)
1. Do obtain consent, when possible.
2. Do think the worst. It is best to
administered first aid for the
gravest possibility.
3. Do call or send for help.
4. Do remember to identify yourself to
the victim.
5. Do provide emotional support.
6. Do respect the victim’s
modesty and physical privacy.
7. Do be as calm and direct as
possible.
8. Do care for the most serious
injuries first.
9. Do assist the victim with his
prescription medication.
( What not to do)
1.Do not further harm.
2.Do not leave the victim alone
except to get help.
3.Do not assume that the victim’s
obvious injuries are the only
ones.
4.Do not deny a victim’s physical
or emotional coping limitations.
5. Do not make any unrealistic
promises.
6. Do not trust the judgement
of a confused victim.
7. Do not require the victim to
make decisions.
HOW TO HANDLE AN
EMERGENCY

Following certain guidelines


will assist you in your role,
whatever the nature of the
patient’s illness or injury. In case
of an accident, follow the given
steps on the next slide:
1.Speak to the victim and to the
persons at the scene to find out
what happened.
2.Be calm and reassuring.
3.Examine the victim’s from head
to toe.
4.Determine the simplest and
most direct form of actions.
5.Do not rush to move the victim.
6. Do not give the victim water.
7. Do not give the victim alcohol.
8. Do only what you are sure is
correct. If you are not reasonably
sure, take no action at all. Hasty
or improper action may do harm
and may cause irreparable
injury.
