What is keliod
• Keloids can be considered to be "scars that
don't know when to stop.
Causes for keliod
• Alterations in the cellular signals that control
proliferation and inflammation may be related
to the process of keloid formation,
• But the exact cause is unknown .
What are keloid risk factors?
• Individuals with darkly pigmented skin
• In some cases, the tendency to form keloids
seems to run in families
In which area of the body are keloids
most likely to appear?
• chest,
• back,
• shoulders,
• and earlobes
What is the difference between a
keloid, hypertrophic scar, and a
dermatofibroma?
Keloids and piercing
• keloid in one earlobe after piercing is very
common
What are keloid symptoms and signs?

• Keloids are raised and look shiny and dome-


shaped, ranging in color from pink to red.
What are treatment options for
keloids?
• Corticosteroid injections (intraregional)
Injections are usually given once every four to
eight weeks into the keloids .
• Surgery: This is risky because cutting a keloid
can trigger the formation of a similar or even
larger keloid.
• radiation treatment after surgical excision
has also been found to be useful.

• Simply ligation with nylon 2/0
• Under local anesthesia
Mechanism of action
• Gradually cut the blood flow to the lesion until
• Dry and fall leaving small flat scar without any
keliod recurrence .
