SKIRTS

a woman’s outer garment fastened


around the waist and hanging
around the legs.
A skirt is the lower part of dress or
gown covering the person from the
waist downwards or a separate outer
garment serving this purpose
Skirt is a free hanging part of an
outer garment or undergarment
extending from the waist.
TYPES OF SKIRT

1.FLARE SKIRT
A flared skirt is very similar to an A-
line skirt, except that it is mostly
short and flares out a lot more than
your A-line. As it moves down, it
circles out and covers your bottom.
When you are styling a flared skirt,
wear a fitted top so that you don’t
create very wide silhouette.
2. BROOMSTICK SKIRT
Broomstick skirts were a big hit in
the 70’s and 80’s. But, just like
everything else from that era, they
are making a comeback, esp. for
people who love anything hippie or
boho.
3. MINI SKIRT
One skirt that remains dear to
most generation is the mini skirt.
Just as the name goes, it stops
halfway down your thighs and is
straight cut. It comes in a variety of
fabrics, but leather, rexine, and
denim go well with this style.
4. PLEATED SKIRTS
In this style, the fabric around the
waist is gathered and sewn to create
pleats. Pleated skirts usually come
in a lighter fabrics like organza, silk,
and satin because thicker fabrics
can make pleats balloon out and
give them an awkward shape.
5. MAXI SKIRTS
Maxi skirts are long and usually
low-waisted. They are sleek, worn
below your belly button, and go
down past your shins. They are little
different from your long skirts and
look great on tall women. They are,
of course, a summer staple.
6. LONG SKIRT
Long skirts, just like maxi skirts,
run till your ankles. However, they
are not narrow or straight-cut like
maxis. They are just long and come
in all kinds of patterns and fabrics.
7. A-LINE SKIRT
A-line skirt are perfect for parties
as they are quite elegant. They are
usually knee-length but come in all
sizes. This is why this is one of the
most sought-after patterns. While
the waistline remains straight, the
hemline broadens a little as it
moves down.
8. TUTU SKIRTS
Tutu skirts were originally a ballet
costume and a childhood birthday
dress for most of us. Even though
they are still worn in those settings,
designer have also found ways to
wear them just like any other skirts.
They may not be an everyday
staple, but they’re sure a great
party output idea.
9 SKATER SKIRT
Skater skirt are short ,cute and
chic. they are fun mix of A-line and
circle skirts, except they are
shorter. Skater are not heavy duty
and have very informal vibe to them
because of the light fabrics used to
make them. They are perfect for an
outing with friends, a date, or a
party.
10. BALL GOWN SKIRT
A ball gown skirt balloons out from
below your waist and goes down to
your feet. However, it’s the ankle
length and asymmetrical ball gown
skirts that are trending right now.
11.WRAP AROUND SKIRT
Wrap or wrap around skirt come
without elastic around the
waistband and very much like
sarongs. You have to wrap them
around you and tie on one side.
They are great for summer days at
beach.
12.HOOP SKIRT
Hoop skirt Victorian times and
literally have a hoops stitch around
the hemline at the bottom. They
were a traditional attire for women
in the olden times and had two-
three layers stitch into them,
finished off with a lace overlay.
13.BALLET SKIRT
The ballet skirt is not very
different from your tutu skirt. It is
just shorter and more circular.
Ballet skirt is usually come in
pastels and muted undertones.
However, you can find them in all
sort of color in the market if you
just look around a little bit.
14.PENCIL SKIRT
Pencil skirt are slim and straight
and usually taper as they go down.
You can wear them formally and
informally-depending on the fabric
and pattern of the skirt.
15.HIGH WAISTED SKIRT
High-waisted skirts can be a
combination of diff. styles of skirts.
Unlike other skirts, the waistband
sits above your belly button, and
that little detail makes a world of
difference to the outfit.
PROCEDURE IN TAKING BODY MEASUREMENT
FOR SKIRT

A.WAIST
Tie a piece of string around your waist
circumference to allocate the position of your
natural waist line

B.WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE
Not too tight. Take a slightly loose
comfortable measurement around your waist.
Take this measurement to your comfort.
C.UPPER HIP CIRCUMFERENCE
Upper hip circumference
approximately 5”below your waist.
Take this measurement around the
fattest part of your tummy.

D.LOWER HIP CIRCUMFERENCE


This is the circumference of your
hip at its widest point and around
the bottom.
E. WAIST TO LOWER HIP
Measure from your waist to the
starting position of your lower hip.
This is usually 7” to 8” below the
Waist in general however this
measurement can be up to 10 inches
for taller ladies with more body
mass.
F. SKIRT LENGTH
Stand straight, measure from your
waist to your desired skirt length.
