BIOS
(Basic Input Output System)
- The BIOS is boot firmware, designed
to be the first code run by a PC
when powered on. The initial
function of the BIOS is to identify,
test, and initialize system devices
such as the video display card, hard
DVD ROM
- Accesses data stored in
CD’s and DVD’s.
EXPANSION CARD
- Used to connect
peripheral devices or add
new capabilities to a
computer system.
CPU
- Performs the
calculations and does the
comparisons needed. For
processing control.
HARD DRIVE
- Stores data a programs,
the principal storage
device for most PCs.
FLOPPY DRIVE
- Accesses data stored on
floppy disks.
MEMORY SLOTS
- Memory slots connects
memory modules to the
motherboard.
MEMORY MODULES(RAM)

- Stores data temporarily


as a user works.
EXPANSION SLOTS

- Connects expansion
cards to the motherboard
to add additional
capabilities.
MOTHERBOARD
- Connects all
components of the
computer system; The
PC’s main circuit board.
