BENGKULU, is not only famous for the Giant Rafflesia Flower and its historical attractions and
natural beauty, however, it has traditions and musical instruments that are the only ones in
the world. The musical instrument is called Dol. One of the richness of Indonesian ethnic
music, is also used in tabot ceremonies every year. dol is one of the only musical instruments
in the world, with an odd beating pattern. So it becomes rare. In fact, beating dol also used a
tool in the form of two sticks.
HISTORY ?

The doll musical instrument was first brought by Indian Muslim


traders who came to Indonesia brought by the British colonial
government who at that time built Fort Malborough. They then
married a Bengkulu local and his lineage was known as the Tabot
family. Until the 1970s, doll music could only be played by
people who had blood relations with the tabot family to play the
instrument, so not just anyone who could play it.
