• ISRO stand for INDIAN SPACE RESEARCH ORGANISATION.
• ISRO was formed in 1969.
• ISRO was established by India’s first Prime Minister PT. NEHRU and
his close friend .

India’s First Satellite


• ISRO build India’s first satellite called ARYABHATA in 1975 from
Kapustin Yar .
• Aryabhata was built to conduct X ray astronomy , aeronomics, and
solar physics.
The Moon Vehicle….CHANDRAYAAN
India’s First mission to moon CHANDRAYAAN1
• It was launched on 22 October 2008 from Satish Dhawan
Space Center SRIHARIKOTA ANDHRA PRADESH .
• The mission was a major boost to India's space program,as India researched
and developed its own technology in order to explore the Moon.
• Among many achievements , the greatest achievements was the discovery
of the widespread presence of water molecules in the lunar soil.
• The Estimated cost for the project was 386 CRORE(US$56 million)
THE MARS MISSION OF INDIA
• The Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) is also called as Mangalyaan “mars
craft” is a mars orbiter launched into earth orbit on 5 November 2013 by
the ISRO .
• It was successfully inserted into orbit of mars on 24 September 2014.
• India is the first asian nation to reach mars orbit and the first country in the
world to do so on its first attempt.
CHANDRAYAAN 2

• India’s second mission to the moon is a totally


indigenous mission comprising of an ORBITER,
LANDER and ROVER .
• the mission was launched from the second launch pad at Satish
Dhawan Space Centre on 22 July 2019
• Its mission is to find water on moon.
• They have selected south pole as shadow of water is seen there.
• Estimated cost for the project was 800 CRORE.
