CIENCIAS NATURALES
There is no doubt that human civilization has had
a negative impact on biodiversity, particularly
since the industrial revolution. Overfishing and
hunting, the destruction of habitats through
agriculture and urban sprawl, the use of
pesticides and herbicides, and the release of
other toxic compounds into the environment
have all taken their toll.
List of Threatened Species

Specie Number of
entries
Vertebrates 5.624

Invertebrates 2.101

Plants 8.390
Consequences of introducing
non-native species
 Interaction between
previously unrelated
species
 Extintion of species by
sudden change of habitat
 Native species become
extinct by famine caused
by competition from non-
native species more
developed
 Cause an imbalance in the
food chain.
Examples of introducing
non_native species
 the gypsy moth in eastern North America
 the zebra mussel and alewife in the Great Lakes
 the Canada goose and gray squirrel in Europe
 the muskrat in Europe and Asia
 the cane toad and red fox in Australia
 nutria in North America, Eurasia, and Africa
 the common brushtail possum in New Zealand.
THE QUOLLS DYING FOR A
NON-NATIVE TOADS
Sugarcane growers of northern australia decided to import a
boxful of foreign toads to fight beetles that were damaginf
sugar crops.
Instead, the 102 toads in that box quickly turned into one of
australian´s biggest wildlife dissasters.
The invaders bread and spread quickly, with female they cane
toads now inhabit vast stretches of northern and eastern
australia.
A number of the cane toad´s behaviors and characteristics
spell doom for native inhabitants.
Australia now spend millions of dollars trying everithing from
mass hunting programs to biological control efforts

Impacts of humans in animals
The humans need sources that supply the wild
animals over fishing, hunting, canalization rivers,
logging and making animals in they habitats for :

-making money
-trade
-fashion
-entretaiment
-furniture
-food
-medicines
