CALCUTTA JOURNAL On september 22,1818 Buckingham published a newspaper named" the calcutta journal or literary gazette". It was a bi- weekly paper Had eight pages. It was concluded to be "well conducted","independent'and "cleaver". It laid more emphasis on uplifting the issues of common people,news of local conditions and bringing light to the cruel colonial rule. And purified its content from making criticism,fashion,advertisement,gossips and anglo social scandals.
