EFFECT OF EXERCISE ON CADIO-RESPIRATORY

PARAMETERS IN PHYSICALLY TRAINED &

SEDENTARY SUBJECTS

Mr. P. R. CHOUDHARY
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
DEPARTMENT OF PHYSIOLOGY
INTRODUCTION

• Consistent aerobic exercise has many physiological effects

on the cardio-respiratory system.

• The heart like any other muscle needs exercise, this

exercise comes in the form of aerobic exercise.

• In this assignment I am going to illustrate the changes that

occur in certain areas of the cardio-respiratory system when
aerobic exercise is undertaken.
The present study is an effort –

• To see the effect of exercise on human body mechanism.

• To establish the effect of exercise (positive and negative

both) on human body.

• To open the new windows of knowledge for further

research.
MATERIALS & METHODS
• Present study will be carried out on 100 healthy male
subjects between ages 18-35 years in department of
physiology, C.U.Shah Medical College, Surendranagar.
• The subjects will be divided into two groups.
-- Group-I (50male) will be physically trained exercise
performers and
-- Group-ii (50 male) will be untrained exercise (sedentary)
performers.

• The written informed consent will be obtained from each

patients.
Methods
• Body mass index (BMI) will be measured as the ratio of
weight (kg) to height (m2).

• Pulmonary function tests such as forced vital capacity

(FVC), forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1),
vital capacity (VC),FEV1/FVC ratio, forced expiratory flow
(FEF), Peak expiratory flow (PEF), and maximum
voluntary ventilation (MVV) will be measured by using
computerized spirometer (spiro-win or spiro-excel).

• Cardiovascular functions test, ECG and blood pressure

will be carried out by electrocardiogram and
sphygmomanometer.
Exclusion criteria
• Exclusion Criteria:
Subject suffering from - asthma,
- chronic bronchitis,
- tuberculosis and
- cardiovascular disease
--- will be excluded from the study.
Thank you
UNDERTAKING
• This study does not involve any animal
experiments or human trials.

• I assure you that Informed consent will be

taken from persons.

• I will follow all the norms of guide line of

Ethical practice laid by medical council of
