Activated Charcoal and Salt As An Alternative Source of Electricity in Rural Areas
Activated Charcoal and Salt As An Alternative Source of Electricity in Rural Areas
Salt as An Alternative
Source of Electricity in
Rural Areas
I. Rationale/Brief Introduction of the Study
Electricity is a natural phenomenon that occurs in nature such as thunder. It
can be taken as a form of energy which people used to deal with their everyday
living. It can be used in powering up the whole community- factories, houses,
and so on.
According to Inquirer (2019), there are continuous yellow and red alerts, with
regards to electricity consumed, within Luzon which may lead to a serious
power supply shortage in the next few years. Based on this, the fact that this kind
of thing already happened earlier and still experiencing the same thing until now
just means that the management of the electricity supplies in our country are
managed poorly.
I. Rationale/Brief Introduction of the Study
Since this is an outgrowing problem within the country, the researchers aim to
study the powdered charcoal and salt as a main source of electricity in urban
areas. They would like to help the citizens within the chosen place, Upper Tuyo,
to have their very own electricity supply produced using the most abundant
product in their place which is the coal.

II. Theoretical/Conceptual Framework
For the product to work, there are series of mixtures that will happen before the
production of electricity. Activated charcoal will be used to hold the particles that
will be discharge from the mixture of salt and water. Activated charcoal is processed
to have small, low-volume pores that increase the surface area available for the
adsorption or chemical reactions (Wikipedia 2019). Activated charcoal will be
pulverized for the water to easily penetrate the pores.
Next, salt will be mixed with the pulverized activated charcoal. These two
substances should be mixed well so when the water is poured, there will be chemical
reaction in almost every pores. Water will be poured in the mixture and it should be
mixed for it to have chemical reaction. Mixing salt and water will produce
electrolytes. These electrolytes are produced when the ions in the salt and water
separated. The flow of these ions will produce electricity and these electricity will
be used for the needs of the people. The reaction will take place in the mixture until
the water dissolves.
