INTERNET DATING

A LITTLE BIT OF
HISTORY

The Web was used to make meetings from its beginning. Web service providers first offered
it in the form of bulletin boards, forums and rooms that offered a wide variety of activities to
meet people online. In the mid-90s, there came the expansion of dating sites, such as
Match.com, eHarmony and OkCupid (which are still very active, with millions of members
worldwide), and in 1998 the cultural approval came with the worldwide success of the movie
"You've Got mail."
