In mineral based industries it includes Iron,
steel and cement and aluminium smelting
and etc.
It is essential because steel is needed to
manufacture a variety of engineering goods,
construction material, defence, medical,
telephonic, scientific equipment and a variety of
consumer goods and Iron is used to make alloy
steels like carbon sheets with additives such as
nickel and manganese and aluminium smelting
because it is light, a good conductor of heat and
becomes strong when it is mixed with other
metals.
During 2014 through 2016, India was the third
largest producer of raw steel and the largest
producer of sponge iron in the world. The industry
produced 91.46 million tons of total finished steel
and 9.7 million tons of raw iron. Most iron and
steel in India are produced from iron ore.
