INTRODUCTION

The use of Biological-Agent to manage pest and diseases is one

way to support the government campaign pursuant to the Organic
Agriculture Act of 2010 (RA 10068).
The production and distribution of biological organisms intends to
minimize the excessive use of pesticides by farmers, thus producing
chemical free agricultural products (e.g. rice, corn, vegetables,).By
choosing to use this bio-control agents which are safe and cheap, farm
inputs will be reduce.
The D.A.-Regional Crop Protection Center as the regional center of
mass production of bio-control agents is continuously supporting the
Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) farming and now the organic
Agriculture campaign of the government.
General:
 To promote environmentally safe and less costly method of
controlling corn borer through the use of bio-control agents.

Specific:
 To mass produce Trichogramma evanescence and Earwig
Euborella annulata for the control of corn borer and other
lepidopteros insects
 To promote the use of bio-control agents as alternative to
insecticides that could increase corn yield production to
atleast 350kg/ha
It is a wasp (an egg
parasite) which depend on
insects egg of sufficient size
to complete their larval and
pupal development.
Trichogramma is released twice in
the field.

Release 50 tricho cards per hectare

4 weeks after planting

Release another 50 tricho cards 5

weeks after planting or one week
after the first release at whorl
stage.

Hang the tricho card on the 3rd leaf

from the base with cards facing the
stem of the corn plants.
For even distribution of tricho
cards, walk 8 paces from one
corner of the cornfield across the
furrow. From there, make
another 8 paces following the
furrow. This is the first releasing
point. Hang the card properly.
Walk another 16 paces following
the furrows then hang the second
tricho card. Continue walking at
16 paces then hang the cards
until all cards for one hectare are
distributed.
Safe to man, environment & beneficial insect.
