“It is any effort which is directed to a detailed
study, required, in each practical situation for better
results.”
In other words;
“A research is an organized set of activities to
study and develop a model, procedure or technique to
find the optimized results of a realistic problem
supported by literature and data. It further make
recommendations or interferences for
implementation.”
RESEARCH
 Research refers to search for knowledge.
 Itis a scientific and systematic search for
knowledge/information on specific topic.
 It is an art of scientific investigation.
 According to advanced learners dictionary of current
English lays down as, “careful or inquiry specially through
search for new facts in any branch of knowledge”.
 Inshort, research is a search for knowledge through
objective and systematic method of finding solution to a
problem in research.
RESEARCH _ MEANING
The main aim of research is to find
out the truth which is hidden and
which is not been hidden.
Quantitative Objectives aim to optimize
certain measure of performance of the system
of study.
 Qualitative Objectives aim to test the
significance of hypotheses of a study of
importance.

Desire to get a research degree along with its
consequences benefits.
Desire to face the challenges in solving
problem.
Desire to get intellectual joy of doing some
creative work.

Research inculcates scientific and inductive thinking and it promotes
the development of logical habits of thinking and organization.
The role of research in several fields of applied economics, whether

related to business or economy as a whole, has greatly increased in
modern times.
Research provides the basis for nearly all government policies in our
economic system.
Research has its special significance in solving various operational

and planning problems of business and industry.
Research is equally important for social scientist in studying social

relationship and in seeking answers to various social problems.

Exploratory research is an initial research which
analyses the data and explores the possibility of
obtaining as many relationships as possible
between different variables without knowing
their end-applications. A general study without
having any specific end-objectives.

3. Study of problems to have an insight.
Exploratory research
Conclusive research tests the hypothesis
(hypotheses) for a research problem formulated
by exploratory research.
It draws definite conclusion(s) for
implementation.
After validating the hypothesis(hypotheses), a
decision making framework can be formulated.

Model is an abstract of reality.
