Definition
 Shape is a closed 2-dimensional object
shown by a line or edge

 2-dimensional (2D) = has height and width


Types of Shapes
 Geometric Shapes: Are 2-dimensional
shapes that can be created or analyzed using
mathematical equations
Types of Shapes
 Organic Shapes: A 2-dimensional shape that
is related to or derived from living matter
Form
- A 3-dimensional object on a picture plane.
- 3-dimensional (3D) = has height, width and depth

Forms may be REAL or IMPLIED.


Kinds of Forms
- Cone
- Sphere
- Cylinder
- Pyramid
- Cube
- Triangular prism
- Rectangular prism
- Etc.
Ways to turn a shape into a form
 Detailed contour line drawing

 Adding value through shading
