Brief History

 Known as the Natural Capital Dye of the Philippines


 Natural dyes are extracted from the roots, barks, leaves, fruits,
of these plants and used to colour food, beverages, cosmetics,
etc.
 Cultural heritage of the people of Abra is manifested in their
customs and practices, especially for people in the mountainous
areas. Collection of antique porcelain, jars, and gongs speaks of
trade with oriental countries.

Accessibility

 How to travel to Abra


By Bus
 From Metro Manila, there are three bus
companies operating along the Manila
to Bangued route.
Partas Bus Company, Viron Transit and
Dominion Bus Lines.
 Journey time is around 10 hours
By Air
There are no airports in Abra.
 Cebu Pacific has daily flights to Laoag.
 From Laoag take a bus to Vigan and
change there for a bus to Bangued

Libtec Underground River (Brgy.
Libtec, Dolores)

Enchanting underground
river, where appears from a
distance a cave protruding at
the surface of a seemingly
empty field. Underneath the
surface is a flowing
underground river that
mirrors the stalagmites,
creating the awesome view
Kimkimay Lake (Taquib)

According to the legend, it was


formerly a dwelling of several
families. A favourite place for
town picnics, swimming and
fishing
Sibud-Sibud Cave (Tineg)

Located in the
upland town in
Tineg and is
one of the 39
caves in the
Phil. That have
been placed
under the
protection and
mgt. of the
DENR
Categorized as
Class III it is less
explored and
visited
Limbo Lake (Villaviciosa)

 Offers an ideal
place for campers
And hikers for its
proximity to the bridge, it
can be reached by jeepney
and bus
Kaparkan Falls

It is approximately a thousand-meter high


terraced water falls. It consists of numerous
infinity of pools in different sizes and depths;
from the highest down to the bottom – with
the last just before the water drops into the
river, as if they were made to fall in line from
the smallest and shallowest, to the biggest
and deepest.
Piwek Rock Formation

 The highlights here are gleaming white


limestone rock formations that wall the
banks of the Tineg River.

Lusuac Dam

The cool waters that flows


in the spring would
definitely refresh the
weary bodies of
travellers. Apart from
being a well-landscaped
resort, it is a good place to
hold picnics and bonding
with family and friends.
Victoria National Park

 Located on top of a hill,


the park gives guests a good
view of the town of Bangued
and neighbouring municipalities
such as Tayum, La Paz, Pidigan,
and Penarrubia.
In the park you will see the
shrine of the Blessed Mother
cradling the Infant Jesus. The
shrine is built near the reservoir
of the Bangued waterworks.
Tangadan Tunnel (

Located in Brgy. Tangadan, San


Quintin, the 40 meter tunnel
was built in 1934 and took two
years to complete. The Allied
forces tried to destroy the
tunnel twice to impede the
advancing Japanese soldiers
during World War II but it did
not collapse. Also known as
“usukan” the tunnel is a
popular landmark of the
province.
Borikibok Resort

 Located in Bucay Abra, aside from the rejuvenating


water, you’ll also enjoy the fresh air and tranquil
ambiance of the place. The water source is natural
spring water flowing from the mountaintop.

 Pinaing Sacred Stones - A


couple of minutes away
from Bangued, in the
hollow of a huge Balete
Tree, Pinaing is said to keep
the “pinpinaing.”
“Pinpinaing” symbolizes
the spirits of the town's
ancestors.
