Project Background
 Golen Gol Hydropower Project is located on the left bank of
Golen River, 25 Kms from Chitral, Distt Chitral KPK.

 It is designed with an installed capacity of 108 MW


generated from 3 Pelton type turbines (36 MW each).

 The original PC-I of the Project was approved by the


ECNCE for a total cost of Rs. 7035.128 Million. Whereas
the Revised PC-I was approved by ECNEC on dated:
30.09.2016 for a Total Cost of Rs. 29077.173 Million.

Project Lots/Packages- Award of Contract
The Project is being executed through various separate Lots of Civil Works,
E&M Works and Transmission Line.

– Lot 1: Construction of O&M staff Colony.

– Lot 2: Civil works for diversion weir, stilling basin, sand trap, headrace tunnel,
pressure shaft and pressure tunnel.

– Lot 3.1: Civil works of power house switchyard and tail race.

– Lot 3.2: Electromechanical manufacture and installations works to the


powerhouse and switchyard.

– Lot 4.1: Transmission line and substation works from Golen Gol to Chukiatan
(113 km)

– Lot 4.2:Transmission line and sub stations from Chukitan to Timergara and to
Chakdara (85 km).

GOLEN GOL PROJECT – BENEFITS
On completion, the Project will accrue following benefits:
• Annual Generation of 436 Million units environment friendly and
economical energy.
• Reduction in import of oil with ultimate saving in foreign exchange.
• 35 MW power supply to Chitral, with 20 MW allocated for Planned
Marble City that will bring economic and social revolution in Chitral.
• Employment opportunity for locals during construction and
operation of the project.
• Improvement in living standards due to infrastructure development.

• Enhancement of tourism opportunities.
