An eclipse takes place when one
heavenly body such as a moon or
planet moves into the shadow of
another heavenly body.

An eclipse is an astronomical
event that occurs when one
celestial object moves into the
shadow of another.

Lunar Eclipse
TYPE OF SOLAR A total eclipse happen every year when the
ECLIPSE moon gets in the way of the sun’s shadow on
earth.
A partial solar eclipse occur when only part of
the sun is covered by the moon.

In annular eclipse the moon’s shadow is not big


enough to cover the whole planet.

Hybrid solar eclipse is a rare form of solar eclipse which


changes from annular to solar

through Earth's umbral
shadow.
PARTIAL LUNAR ECLIPSE

• A portion of the moon


passes through earth’s
umbra shadow.
PENUMBRAL LUNAR
A eclipse happens when the
Moon travels through the faint
penumbral portion of Earth’s
shadow
