 Directions: Use the DECIDE process to reach a health-enhancing decision given the following scenario. Be
thorough in describing each of the six steps and don’t forget to state what each letter of the DECIDE
acronym stands for. Also, as part of the process, make sure to include three possible solutions and one
positive and one negative outcome for each solution (make a three column chart for steps 2 and 3).
Austin and his partner are thinking about having sex and both have had
previous sex partners. To be safe, they decided to go to a clinic together to get
tested for STD’s. Once there, Austin’s partner backed out, saying that Austin will
just have to trust that everything’s fine. Austin values his health, his partners
health, doing what’s right, and their relationship. What should Austin do? Use
the DECIDE Process to reach a health enhancing decision.
