CONTROL CHART

A statistical tool to control processes by

separating the variations into those due to
accidental causes and those due to abnormal
causes, consist of a single centre line (CL)
with two rationally set lines above and below
known as the control line limit (Upper Control
Line,UCL and Lower Control Line,LCL).
The X-Chart based on the moving range
for individual data is used to monitor the
process stability. The control limits are
calculated based on the 3 standard.

Not out of the control limits Points fall outside the controlled
limits
No funny or weird pattern If run more than 7 points
Close to control limit line
Close to centre line (hugging)
Continuous upward or downward
Repeated wave pattern
(Sinusoidal)
1. If one point falls outside of the 3 sigma
control limits (beyond zone A)
2. If two out of any three successive points fall
in zone A of the same side
3. If four out of any five successive points fall
in or beyond zone B of the same side
4. If eight successive points fall in or beyond
zone C of the same side
