What is a Computer
• a computer is a device capable of performing logical and
mathematical operations.

Example:
Desktop Computer (PC)
Laptop Computer
Cellphone
Tablet Computer
etc...
2 Parts of a Computer
• Hardware
• is the physical part of the computer
• Two category part:
• Internal Hardware
• External Hardware
• Software
• programs or applications that is installed in a computer.
Parts you need:
• Internal Hardware
• Motherboard
• Central Processing Unit (CPU)
• Memory (RAM)
• Hard disk (ROM)
• Video Card (Optional)
• Power Supply Unit (PSU)
• CD/DVD ROM (Optional)
Parts you need:
• External Hardware
• Monitor
• Keyboard and Mouse
• System Case
• Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) or Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS)
• Speaker/Headset with Microphone

• Software
• System Software
• Operating System (OS)
• Application Software
ON/OFF Computer
• Power ON
• Plug the computer
• Power ON the AVR or UPS
• Power ON the Computer
• Power OFF
• Shutdown Computer
• Power OFF the AVR/UPS
• Unplug
Troubleshooting tips
• On Boot Beeps
• 1 small beep - Normal, No errors detected
• 1 long beep then 3 small beeps - Video card error
• 3 small beeps - CPU fan error
• 1 long beep then 2 short beep - Memory error
• Dust and Ants are commong cause of computer for not booting
properly, you must clean your internal computer parts at least once a
week or a month.
