TIMAJO, ARON JOHN M.

 A bellows gauge contains an elastic element

that is a convoluted unit that expands and
contracts axially with changes in pressure.
 Bellowspressure element is works on the
principle of Elasticity.
 As the inlet pressure to the instrument
varies, the bellows will expand or
contract. The moving end of the bellows
is connected to a mechanical linkage
assembly. As the bellows and linkage
assembly moves, either an electrical
signal is generated or a direct pressure
indication is provided. The flexibility of a
metallic bellows is similar in character
to that of a helical, coiled compression
spring. Up to the elastic limit of the
bellows, the relation between
increments of load and deflection is
linear.
 SEALING
Bellows create a sealed, flexible
connector capable of multi-axis
movement.
 Electrical Interrupters
 Expansion Joints
 TEMPERATURE
Liquid-filled bellows assemblies expand
and contract in response to temperature
changes.
 Control Valves
 Temperature Switches
 EVACUATION
The aneroid will expand or contact due
to changes in altitude.
 Fuel to Air Mixture
 Pilot Oxygen Masks
 PRESSURE
When pressurized, bellows exhibit a
linear response.
 Pressure Switches
 Gauges
 It is used to measure absolute &
differential pressure.
 It is used to measure low or medium
pressure rang.
 Itis not useful to measure high value
pressure
 Bellows joints can fail catastrophically.
 No in place maintenance or repair can be
performed – they must be replaced if
damaged.
