INTRODUCTION:-
o About 75% people are living in rural areas and are still
dependent on Agriculture.
o About 43% of India’s geographical area is used for
agricultural activity.
o Agriculture continues to play a major role in Indian
Economy some of the evidences are:
• It covers 328 million hectares of total Geographical area.
• Contributes to 1/6th of the export earnings.
• It shares almost 15% of the Indian GDP.
INDIA in world of AGRICULTURE
 Largest producer of milk,
cashew nuts, coconuts, tea,
ginger, turmeric and black
pepper.
 Largest cattle population-281
million.
 Second largest producer of
Wheat, Rice, Sugar and
Groundnut and pulses.
 Third largest in
implementation of
mechanization.
MECHANISM in the field of
AGRICULTURE:
• SOWING:
• appropriate time to sow the seed.
• even spacing between individual seeds are done

• IRRIGATION:
• it is the process of applying water and other nutrients to soil to allow plant growth.
• It is process to protect the crop from pests and other calamities.

• HARVESTING:
• It is the process of gathering the ripe crops from the fields.
• It is the most labor-intensive activity of the growing season.

Government role in Agriculture
• They provide subsidy to the farmers in electricity.
• They have fixed the price of the crops so that
farmers can get the sum of there money.
• There are many schemes launched like:
• Pradhan mantri gramin awaas yojana
• PM-KISAN SCHEME.
FARMERS GET SOLAR SYSTEMS AT AN

WEAKNESS
• Fragmentation of Lands- Division of lands through
generations lowers profit margins for farmers.
• Illiteracy- impotent seeds, approach to moneylenders than
to bank loans
• Lack of Technological Inputs- Bullock farming still prevailing.
• Poor Infrastructure- Unavailability of modern facilities to
some farmers.
ROLE OF IT in AGRICULTURE:
CONCLUSION:
 The literacy level in FARMERS has to be increased.

 We have the infrastructure only links are missing.

 Sustainable use of resources.

 Governments role as a facilitator has to be


increased for better production.
