 CHAPTER 2
Review of Related Literature and Studies
This chapter chapter represnts information about Literature
and studies of the effects of having a financial problem during
Pre-college years specially during Senior High School. This
chapter enables us to know about Literature and studies of
different authors that may involve in this particular study.

• Long and Riley (2007) explain that students may

experience financial stress for a variety of reasons. The
most obvious is due to the cost of attending college. In
2003, about 45 percent of dependent students had unmet
need, the gap between the net cost of college (after
including all sources of aid) and the expected family
contribution.
• According to the statistics form American College
Health Association, (2013), College students frequently
experience financial stress. According to a recent
national survey, 35 percent of students said their
finances were “traumatic” or “very difficult” to handle.

• (Aubyn et al., 2009), expounds the societal level,

university dropouts represent higher education
inefficiency because the supply of university graduates
affects both the returns to education as well as
economic growth. Students only more frequently cited
academics as a stressor causing the same level of
distress. However, only nine percent of students
indicated that financial worries affected their academic
performance.
CHAPTER 3
 The Respondents
• This research is involves 10 students from HUMSS strand of
Our Lady of Lourdes College.

Sampling design
• This qualitative research uses Non-Probability Sampling
(Purposive sampling). This type of sampling will be used to
get respondents and has been chosen to provide the expected
answers from the respondents.
 The Instruments
• This qualitative research uses interview and Semi-structured
questionnaire to gather information from the respondents to
know also the point of view of the respondents.
