SCOPE AND

LIMITATION
Prepared by Group 4
SCOPE
• Scope of investigation defines where and when the
study was conducted and who the subject were.
• The scope sets the delimitations and establishes
the boundaries of the study
• The scope defines the problem or subject that a
researcher plans to study.
SCOPE OF THE STUDY

Refers to how far the research area has explored and

parameters in with the study will be operating in.
Two types of information to be included
in the scope of the research
• FACTS - a piece of information used as evidence
to prove that a study undergoes successive
experiment or actual gathering of data
• THEORIES - an idea or principle gather from
sources like books or the internet. It is just
presumption to arrive at a disired explanation to
support for the study.
LIMITATION
• Limitations is a phrase or aspect of the investigation
which may effect the result of the study adversely
but over which you have no control.
• It must be stated honestly.
• Limitations are factors that the researcher
encounters that inadvertently narrow the scope of
the study.
LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
Also known as "boundary of the research", there are
influences that the researcher connot control. These
are the problems, circumstances or influences that
may arise and which cannot be controlled by the
researcher that place restrictions on your
methodology and conclusion. Anything that might
influence the results is part of the limitations.
IMPORTANCE OF LIMITATION
OF STUDY
• Always acknowledge a study's limitation
• Limitation is an opportunity to make suggestions
for further research
• Demonstrate of critically research problem
