INTRODUCTION
• It is a direct select vision
controlled and
communication system.
• It is a communication
system for people with
complex physical
disabilities.
• It was first developed in
Virginia by LC
technologies.
USERS OF EYE GAZE SYSTEM
■ This system is mainly developed for ■ Its users are adults and children
those who lack the use of their with cerebral palsy, brain injuries,
hands or voice. etc.
SKILLS NEEDED BY THE USERS
■ Vision Research
■ Psychiatry/Mental health
■ Video games
■ Experimental Psychology
ADVANTAGES
■ Eye movement is faster than other current input media.
■ No training or particular coordination is required for normal
users.
■ Can determine where the user’s interest is focused
automatically.
■ Helpful for usability studies to understand users interact with
their environment.
FUTURE SCOPE
■ In addition to gaze direction and eye movement patterns , also other eye-
related measurements such as the pupil size can contribute to the
interpretation of the users emotional and cognitive state.
■ Gaze behavior can also be combined with other measurements from the
users face and body enabling multimodel physiological computing.
■ Gaze based user modeling may offer a step towards truly intelligent
interfaces that are able to facilitate the user in a smart way that
complements the users natural behaviour,.
CONCLUSION
The idea of eye control is of great use to not only the future of natural input
but more importantly the handicapped and disabled. One of the main goals
for Eye Gaze system is to enable completely paralyzed patients to make their
life more accessible and to provide them opportunity of independence and
movement.
