• situated at the southeastern


portion of Mindanao.
• encloses the Davao Gulf.
• its regional center is Davao City.
• Comprised of
five provinces: Compostela
Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao
del Sur, Davao Oriental and Davao
Occidental, the newly created
province.
History
• It is believed that
the Manobos, Mandayas and the Bagobos
occupied the area. These are the same tribes
that created the small settlements and
communities that eventually became
Mindanao.
Foods
• Kinilaw is a popular
seafood dish in Davao
City. The dish is typically
made from fresh, raw
Tuna or Swordfish
(Malasugi) marinated in
vinegar and citrus juices
such as lemon or lime,
spiced with chili peppers
(siling labuyo) and
seasoned with ginger,
onion, and salt.
• Sinuglaw is a contraction of
the words, Sinugba (Grilled)
and Kinilaw. It is a
combination of fresh Tuna
or Malasugi and grilled
pork marinated in vinegar
and citrus juices such as
lemon or lime, spiced with
chili peppers (siling labuyo)
and seasoned with ginger,
onion, and salt.

• Inato is a shorten word
for "atin ito", thus
"inato" or " it is our" in
English. Inato is a way a
chicken is cooked.
• Sutokil is a contracted
words of Sugba
(Grilled), Tola (Boiled),
and Kinilaw (Fresh Tuna
fish marinated in
vinegar), and is a very
popular combination of
dishes in Davao City.
• Law-Uy is an all-time
Visayan favotite. It
consists mainly of
several fresh vegetables
cooked with fish.
• Binignit or Ginataan in
Tagalog is an all-time
favorite refreshment in
Davao City. It is a
combination of several
fruits cooked in coconut
milk.

DIFFERENT PROVINCES
COMPOSTELLA VALLEY(heart of Davao
region)
• covers a total area of 4,479.77
square kilometres (1,729.65 sq
mi)  occupying the northeastern
section of the Davao Region.
• The province borders Davao del
Norte to the west, Agusan del Sur
to the north, and Davao Oriental
to the east. To the southwest lies
the Davao Gulf.
• It is the fourth newest province of
the Philippines
• The population of Compostela
Valley in the 2015 census was
736,107 people
History
• Compostela Valley, the 78th province in the
country, was carved out of Davao del Norte
Province by virtue of Republic Act No. 8470,
signed by President Fidel V. Ramos on January
30, 1998.
Languages
• The primary language spoken in the province
is Cebuano. Secondary languages
include Filipino, English and Mansaka.
Economy
• The main sources of livelihood are agricultural
products such as rice, coconut, cacao, coffee,
papaya, mango, pineapple, durian and banana.
• Some residents have fishponds and culture their
own fish like tilapia and milkfish.
• The province is also rich with gold ore.
Nabunturan, the provincial capital, is home to the
biggest gold ring in the Philippines, "The
Solidarity Ring."
Tourists attractions
• The Awao Falls are said to
be the other precious
natural asset of Monkayo,
Compostela Valley, which is
known for its gold mines.
The falls, estimated to be at
least 20 meters high, dwarf
tourists who go on a heart-
stopping ride on steep
hillside roads to enjoy these
wonders.
• Tagbibinta falls which
measures 700 feet high
and a series of seven
falls located in
Maragusan, Compostela
Valley. The trek to
Tagbibinta falls is
minimal.
• Aguacan Cold Spring
Resort has its own
distinctive feature they
have the Olympic size
swimming pool.

the Baguio of the

Sal’lupongan festival
• It is a festival which name
means sharing between
and among each and
every person and the
solidarity that they share.
The local community
takes part in this festival
to give thanks to God for
the plentiful harvest he
has showered upon them
and for more bountiful
harvests to come in the
future.

of the most awaited
festivals in Compostela
Valley Province during
the holidays in
December. The festival
promotes the beauty of
different Christmas
lights dancing in the
dark nights of
December.

Davao del Norte

History
• Davao del Norte and Compostela Valley,
together with Davao Oriental, Davao
Occidental and Davao del Sur used to be a
whole province simply known as Davao. This
original province was split into three: Davao
del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Davao del
Sur when Republic Act No. 4867 (authored by
Representative Lorenzo S. Sarmiento, Sr.) was
signed into law on May 8, 1967 by
President Ferdinand Marcos.
Economy
• The principal crops of the province
include rice, maize, banana, coconut, abacá, ramie, coffee,
and a variety of fruit and rootcrops. Davao del Norte is the
country's leading producer of bananas, with many
plantations run by multinationals Dole and Del Monte, and
local producers such as Lapanday, TADECO, and Marsman.
Davao del Norte is also one of Mindanao's leading producer
of rice.
• Davao Gulf, to the south of the province, provides a living
for many fishermen. Some of the fish products include
brackish water milkfish, tilapia, shrimp, and crab; and
freshwater catfish and tilapia.
• Davao del Norte is a major producer of gold, and its mining
resources include silica, silver, copper and elemental sulfur

Giant clam sanctuary
• Great chance for
everyone to see the Giant
Clams. Even an
inexperienced snorkeller
can come along, since the
water is so calm The
Taklobo Sanctuary is
committed to the
protection of the Giant
Clams, and helps to
educate people on why
we don't want to kill
these lovely beings.
Hagimit falls
• The Hagimit Water
Falls is quite small, but
it all falls naturally. The
pool that catches the
cool water is all
preserved in its natural
form giving the visitors
a delightful dive spot.
Recently the locals’
added some cottages
for the visitors comfort
and for an income for
them as well.
• Tagbaobo Falls, found in
Barangay Kaputian is less
frequented by visitors since
its farther southeast of
Samal Island unlike Hagimit
Falls. There’s a small shed
for registration and
entrance fee (Php 40/head)
for visitors. The falls is also
known as Mangongawong
Falls by the locals but they
prefer the former name
since it is easier to
pronounce.

Davao del sur
• a province in the Philippines

• capital and largest city is Digos.
• The province is bordered by
Davao City to the north, Davao
Occidental to the south and
Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, South
Cotabato and Sarangani to the
west. To the east lies the Davao
Gulf.

History
• The beginnings of both Davao Region and Davao
del Sur were associated with that of the foundation
of Davao, which was the first town to be founded
in southern Mindanao in 1848, following the
conquest of the area by José Uyanguren of
the Basque province of Gipuzkoa,
Spain (Guipúzcoa in Spanish). In 1849, Nueva
Guipúzcoa province was founded in the region
conquered by Uyanguren in what is now Davao Region,
with Davao, then called Nueva Vergara, as the
provincial capital. Uyanguren became the provincial
governor, but he failed in his efforts to develop Nueva
Guipúzcoa.
Religion
• Christianity in the form of Roman
Catholicism is the predominant religion in the
province followed by more than 80% of the
people. The remaining faiths are Islam and
other Christians such
as Aglipayan, Baptists, Iglesia Ni Cristo, Church
of Christ of Latter Day
Saints (Mormons) Seventh-day Adventist,
other Evangelical Christians and Jehovah's
Witnesses
Economy
• Agriculture, tourism, fishing and farming is the
main source of economic revenue in the
province due to its favorable climate and
fertile soil. Davao Del Sur is popular for its
Coconut Industry. Other crops grown are
bananas, cacao, ramie, coffee, fruits, and
vegetables.

River tubing at Sibulan can go
as far as three kilometers and
last for an hour depending on
the river current. Drew and the
team covered one kilometer in

Riding on horseback to get to
Camp Sabros is a memorable

Davao occidental
• the 81st and newest province in
the Philippines located in the
Davao Region in Mindanao.
• According to Article IX Section 48
of the provincial charter, the first
set of elective officials were
elected on May 9, 2016, the next
local elections following the
foundation of the province.
• covers a total area of 2,163.45
square kilometres (835.31 sq mi)
• The province is bordered on the
northwest by Davao del Sur; west
by Sarangani and northeast by
the Davao Gulf.
History
• Davao Occidental was created through Republic
Act 10360 enacted on July 23, 2013, comprising
five of the eight municipalities that constitute the
2nd district of Davao del Sur. RA 10360 was
passed by the House of Representative and
Senate on November 28, 2012, and December 5,
2012, respectively, and signed by President
Benigno Aquino III on January 14, 2013. A
plebiscite was held on October 28, 2013 along
with the barangay elections and the majority of
votes cast were "Yes", ratifying the province

• It was formerly part of Davao
del Sur but has recently been
proclaimed as part of the new

simply tempting to travelers.
Even foreign indigenous tribes
from Indonesia have cultural
influences in this part of the
region.

originate from an active volcano system.

Malita
• As one of the more prominent municipalities in the region,

Bolae Cove
• Just off the point between Olanivan and Balut islands, this

Tuke Maklang

Tuke Nonsul
• Just alone the western coast near Bolae Cove, there’s a rich

Malita Museo

History
• The present territory of Davao Oriental was covered by the
historical region of Caraga, which was under the Sultanate of
Maguindanao. The Spaniards established a permanent settlement
in the region in 1591, and in 1844, the area was ceded by the
Sultanate to Spain. An expedition was sent by the colonial
government in Manila in 1847 to control the region, led by the
Spaniard Jose Oyanguren, who settled in the town of Davao and
organized the surrounding areas into the province of Nueva
Guipozcoa in 1849. The province existed until 1858, when the
politico-military commandancias of Davao and Bislig were created
in its place. Bislig was incorporated into the District of Davao two
years later.

• On May 8, 1967, through Republic Act No. 4867, the province of


Davao was divided into three independent provinces, one of which
was Davao Oriental
Economic

country, earning the province the title Coconut
capital of the Philippines.

• Aliwagwag Falls

• This is one of the


magnificent natural
wonders of the Philippines
which towers to 1,110 feet
of amazing rock formations
to complete 130 waterfalls
of powerful gushing waters.

highest of all waterfalls in
the country.
Cape of San Agustin in Gov Generoso
• Facing the great Celebs Sea, the Cape
of San Agustin mixes remnants of the
Spanish colonial rule and the raw
beauty of the Philippine beaches
evident in Parola Beach’s pinkish
white sand. Many divers frequent this
place because of the diving
experience they get in the diving site
nicknamed as “the wall”. The cape
houses three lighthouses which offer
a breathtaking view of the sea and
the uncanny but beautiful islet.
Tourists also visit an amazing rock
formation called “the altar”.
Mt. Hamiguitan-Bonsai Forest

Recently tagged as a UNESCO


World Heritage Site, this national
park is a sanctuary to Philippine
wildlife. However, what makes
the mountain more special is its
bonsai forest which nature alone
has crafted and perfected. This
forest is unique to the Philippines
and this is the very reason why
many adventure seekers and
mountain trekking enthusiast love
to visit the mountain.Mt
Hamiguitan is currently not yet
open for the public.
• San Victor Island in Baganga

• Detached from the whole


world, this island has retained
its beauty and mystery which
has drawn many tourists to its
midst. The island boasts of its
fine white sand and very clean
waters home to many sea
creatures including the
transient dugongs and marine
vegetation. Although the
island is very simple, tourists
can stay for a night in small
huts or in tents.
• Lake Carolina in Baganga

• Just 15 minutes from the


national highway is a perfect
getaway for people who are
looking for a one-of-a-king
experience. Although called a
lake, Carolina is actually a
lagoon filled with brackish
water and abundant marine
life. The scenery perfected by
the surrounding green trees is
also a sight to enjoy which
makes the place even more
relaxing.
• Pujada and Waniban Island in
Mati

• If you are fond of secret island


getaways, then the Pujada and
Waniban islands are perfect for
you. Both offers white sand
beaches, clear waters and
unlimited relaxation. Pujada is
bare from all types of commercial
accommodation and offers all the
wonders of nature can give.
Waniban, on the other hand, is
home to a small local community
but also does not have any
commercial lodging stay in.

• Another gem hidden and well


preserved in Davao Oriental is
Sigaboy Island. The place is
secluded and is not quite big.
In fact, you can round the
island in less than 30 minutes
and see the beauty of the
whole place. It has a coastline
which could stretch from some
kilometers during low tide.
