CLASSROOM INDOOR

PLANTS : A REVIEW

BY: BAOD, VENUS C.

ABSTRACT
The main objective of this review is to confirm
whether indoor plants are feasible in an indoor
classroom setting or not. The role of indoor plants in
classrooms rely on the psychological and
physiological responses of the students. The
integration of indoor plants is seen as one of the
steps in creating an effective learning environment.

INTRODUCTION

Plants are our mass producer of oxygen,

without plants humans do not cease to exist.

1. Ability of interior plants to

remove volatile organic
compounds (VOC).
2. Ability to absorb sound

CHARACTERISTICS OF INDOOR PLANTS

It is important to consider the ability of

an indoor plant to tolerate low light,
drought, resistance to diseases and pests.

Special Tropical Indoor Plants

1. ZZ (Zamioculcas zamiifolia)
ZZ plant tolerates neglect, is drought tolerant,
and accepts low-light conditions and its smooth
leaves reflect sunlight and brighten rooms.
2. Lady Jane Anthurium
This plant grows better in a container media
which has a coir dust also known as
cocopeat or fiber dust.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Knowledge in botany is important.

Cultivation

IMPACTS ON HUMAN

Is it good or is it bad?
Psychological and Physiological Effects

1. Induce a relaxing effect.

2. Change the anxiety level.
3. Reaction time in the presence of plants was 12% faster.
4. Increase in wellbeing and productivity.
5. Ability to concentrate.
6. Ability to deal with stress.
Allergens

Due to pollens emitted by some indoor

plants, allergens are activated for
asthmatic individuals.

Biowalls
BENEFITS
1. Ability to target indoor air quality (IAQ)
problems such as pollution.
2. Adds appealing natural aesthetic
appearance.
3. Improve indoor air quality without a filter.
4. Increased levels of productivity.
5. Improve image and branding within the
community.
