Styles – what are
they for?
By creating or using a
style, you can ensure quick
and consistent formatting
throughout the document.
Where are they?
The Styles group is on the Home tab in 2007 and above.
There are a number of in-built styles, such as
Normal, Heading 1, Heading 2 etc.
As with most formatting
features – you first select the
text..(or make the paragraph active by clicking
into it).
The insert picture dialog box will let you browse forpictures
or images on your computer.
Clip Art
The Clip Art dialog box will let you browse drawings,movies,
sounds, or stock photography from yourcomputer.
Shapes
The Shapes dialog box will let you insert a variety of ready-made
shapes from the spreadsheet application
Smart Art
The Smart Art dialog box lets you insert graphical lists and diagramsfrom
the spreadsheet application
The Font Group
To control the apperance of the text and make it
presentable word allows you to format text with
various text effect , colour , underline styles and more
by providing tools to make formating quick and easy.
Change Case
Word processer enables user to change text to capital
letters or small letters
Highlighting
This option is used to change the background color of
the text.
Subscript & Superscript
These decrease the font size proportionally and lower
or raise the baseline.
These buttons are toggles and will be shaded when
text is selected to which they apply.
Bold,Italic,Underline
These two buttons apply Bold or Italic formatting to text.
When the insertion point is inside text that has been
formatted as bold or Italic, these buttons will be shaded.
Clicking on the Underline button will underscore your
text. Clicking the little triangle on the right will give you
options for
the type of underline you want. Once you select an
option, that option is active during your Word session
(including in
different documents). The Underline Color brings up a
palette. More Underlines... brings up the Font dialog box
which has
access to even more underline types.
Text Effects
Text Effects lets you apply WordArt type appearance to
text in the body of your document. Unlike WordArt,
Text Effects can be
applied using Styles.
