be based in or out of the classrooms, the use of computers and the
internet forms the major component of e-learning.

technology with no face-to-face interaction.

• More than Computer based learning (CBL) and Computer assisted instruction (CAI)
.
• More than on-line learning : E-learning conveys broader meaning than on-line
learning.

• Not synonymous to audio-visual and multimedia learning : E-learning should not

be considered synonymous to audio-visual learning , multimedia learning or
distance education. Although audio-visual learning and multimedia is based on
internet and computer-based web services provided, they are identical not
complementary .

• Confined to web based and internet-based learning : The use of E-learning should
be confined to type of learning carried out or facilitated through web enhanced
instruction and internet-based communications like mail ,live chats.
• Exclusion of non-internet and non-web technology : All types of non-
