BEING IN THE WILL

OF GOD– 1
I. WE WILL ALL BE
CONFRONTED WITH THE
WILL OF GOD
A.The Moment Will Come that the
Will of God Will Be Right Up
Before Our Faces
The plan of God for our lives and
future will UNFOLD right before
our very eyes.
Every one of us will have our
moment with God.
Your reaction to this confrontation
is very important.
B. Examples of People Who
Encountered the Will of God
1. The Lord Jesus was confronted
with the will of God for His life.
“Nevertheless, Your WILL be
DONE not mine”.
Paul also got confronted with the
will of God for his life when God
told him to go to Jerusalem, and
though imprisonment awaited him
there, he YIELDED himself to the
Lord’s will.
-Acts 21:13-14
13 Then Paul answered, "Why are
you weeping and breaking my heart?
I am ready not only to be bound, but
also to die in Jerusalem for the name
of the Lord Jesus." 14 When he
would not be dissuaded, we gave up
and said, "The Lord's will be done."
(NIV)
3. Moses, in Exo. 3-4, is confronted
with the will of God to bring out
the people of Israel from Egypt.
4. Abraham, in Gen 12, also gets
confronted with the will of God to
leave his country and his father’s
household to go to the land of
Canaan.
Encountering the will of God will
happen to all God’s people.
II. GOD’S EXPECTATION IS
FOR EACH OF US TO YIELD
TO HIS WILL THE MOMENT
WE ENCOUNTER IT
PERSONALLY
A. God Does Not Want Us to
Resist His Will
Resisting the will of God is
tantamount to FIGHTING or
OPPOSING it.
-Matt 25:24-27
24 "Then the man who had received
the one talent came. 'Master,' he
said, 'I knew that you are a hard
man, harvesting where you have not
sown and gathering where you have
not scattered seed.
25 So I was afraid and went out and
hid your talent in the ground. See,
here is what belongs to you.'
26 "His master replied, 'You wicked,
lazy servant! So you knew that I
harvest where I have not sown and
gather where I have not scattered
seed?
27 Well then, you should have put
my money on deposit with the
bankers, so that when I returned I
would have received it back with
interest. (NIV)
The cause: FEAR.

Fear is a factor that a person will

encounter in doing God’s will.
B. Our Lives Must Always Be
Submitted to the Will of God
Lord Jesus, Paul, Moses and
Abraham – ALL YIELDED to the will
of God.
God has a will and a plan for our
lives.
C. Our Lives Must Always Be
Yielded and Submitted to God’s
Will for Us.
- James 4:13-15
13 Now listen, you who say, "Today
or tomorrow we will go to this or
that city, spend a year there, carry
on business and make money."
14 Why, you do not even know
what will happen tomorrow. What is
your life? You are a mist that
appears for a little while and then
vanishes.
15 Instead, you ought to say, "If
it is the Lord's will, we will LIVE
and do this or that." (NIV)
Be YIELDED to the WILL of God.

v.15: “If it is the Lord’s will, we

will LIVE and
do this or that.”
Make sure you do not die
outside the will
of God by doing your own will.
- Eph 5:15-17
15 Be very careful, then, how you
live-- not as unwise but as wise,
16 making the most of every
opportunity, because the days are
evil.
17 Therefore do not be foolish, but
UNDERSTAND what the Lord's will
is.
(NIV)
“understand” (Greek): suneimi
-means to bring or put together.
- Acts 16:6-10
6 Paul and his companions traveled
throughout the region of Phrygia
and Galatia, having been kept by the
Holy Spirit from preaching the word
in the province of Asia.
7 When they came to the border of
Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia,
but the Spirit of Jesus would not
allow them to.
8 So they passed by Mysia and
went down to Troas.
9 During the night Paul had a
vision of a man of Macedonia
standing and begging him, "Come
over to Macedonia and help us."
10 After Paul had seen the vision,
we got ready at once to leave for
Macedonia, CONCLUDING that
God had called us to preach the
gospel to them. (NIV)
The Greek for “concluding”
indicates to assuredly gather.
We must know HOW to ask God
to TEACH us to do His will.
- Ps 143:10 - TEACH ME to do
your will, for you are my God;
may your
good Spirit lead me on level
ground. (NIV)
