PRACTICAL RESEARCH I

Young, Wild and Free: Vices and
Its Effects to the Grade 11
HUMSS Student of Olivarez
College DPRO
Senior High School
INTRODUCTION
Vice is a practice or habit that is considered as an
immoral behavior. These are habits and activities
that are not beneficial to an individual.
Puberty stage or teenage life is the most
exciting part of life because on this stage, teenagers
are being more curious and adventurous with so
many things. Teenagers want to explore new things
and new experience in life. Along with the process
of their exploring, they can discover practicing those
vices through the influence of their friends and
peers.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

 What are the vices of the participants?

 Why are the participants having such vices?

 What are the effects of vices to the

participants?
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The researchers settled to the use of (8) eight students

using purposive sampling. The researchers decide to use
the said sampling technique for the subject requires the
experience of the respondents because they are the one
who has the capability of answering the survey
questionnaires. These survey questionnaires prepared by
the researchers will be answered by the respondents.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

This research includes a survey questionnaire with
related questions that will engage the structured
instrument to understand the effects of vices to the
Grade 11 HUMSS students of Olivarez College DPRO
Senior High School Department.
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

The researchers found out that all of the
respondents have different vices. These vices help them
to forget and skip their problems in life. This simply
means that vice is a factor to make them forget their
problems. The researchers found that there are a lot of
factors on how students reduce their problems and one
of the major reasons why students are engaged to these
kinds of vices is due to peer pressure. These vices can
also make them feel relaxed and calmed.
CONCLUSION
   Students are engaged to different vices such as cigarette
smoking, drinking alcoholic drinks and addiction to computer games.
Therefore, students with vices might affect their behavior inside and
outside the school premises even their performance inside their class.
 Most of the vices that a student has is heavily due to peer
pressure. Differences and similarities may also be a factor on how
peer pressure can affect students. Gender, hobbies and ethnicities
are some example of these differences and similarities. Therefore,
students with the same likes and hobbies might themselves in a
common circle of friends where they can inherit these said vice
 The researchers found out that the vices that the students have
make them feel happy and calm ion a positive way. These vices may
be dangerous to their health without even knowing, and this is already
the negative effect of these vices to them.
RECOMMENDATION
Students

The researchers recommend the students to avoid their vices and bad
habits that can affect them negatively. Students can spend their time in more
worthy things than spending their teen age days with such vices and find
another way to calm themselves instead.
Parents/Guardians and Teachers

The researchers recommend that this research study may serve as their
guidelines as a parent/guardian to protect their child/children from vices that
may affect them negatively at home and teachers may serve as their second
parent inside the school premises. This may help them to think about how
they can approach a student or their child properly when it comes to these
kinds of concerns.
Future Researchers

The researchers recommend that this research study may serve as their
guidelines for the study that they will be conducting in the near future. This
research can also be one of their bases in making their research for the
process in conducting their research.
