CLASSIFICATION OF ACANTHOCEPALA

1. Archiacanthocepala
Characteristic :
• Microscopic parasatic worms that attach themselves to the intestinal wall of
terrestrial vebrates, including humans.
• The body wall and the lemnisci (which are a bundle of sensory nine fibers)
• Nuclei that divide (it has a few amoebae-like giant nuclei)
• Example :Macracanthorhynchus hirudincey
2. Eoacanthocephala
Characteristic :
• They feed on any aquatic cold-blooded creature such as turtles and fish
• Proboscis spines arranged radially
• No protonephridea
• Persistent ligament such in female
• They only have one cement gland
• Example : Pallisentris punctati
3. Palaeacanthocephala
Characteristic:
• Lateral longitudinal lacular canals and a double – walled proboscis receplacle
• The nuclei of the hypodermis
• The males have two to seven cement glands
• Example : Cathayschantus spinitruncatus
